No app store needed: this tuner installs straight from your browser and works offline. On iPhone: tap the Share button in Safari, then "Add to Home Screen". On Android: tap the install prompt below, or choose "Add to Home screen" from the browser menu.
A native iPhone app is also in development, with haptic feedback, full VoiceOver accessibility, custom tunings, A4 calibration, and an optional one-off Pro unlock (metronome and more), never a subscription. This page will link to the App Store when it launches.
Check your browser or phone has microphone permission for this site or the app, and that no other app is using the mic. Play one string at a time, reasonably close to the microphone. On laptops, external fans and background noise can mask quiet strings.
Presets for guitar (standard, drop D, half-step down, open G, open D, DADGAD, 12-string), bass, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, violin, viola, cello, double bass and lap steel, plus a full chromatic mode covering roughly 25 Hz to 4,200 Hz for anything else with a clear single pitch.
Yes, and permanently. Tuning is never paywalled, there are no ads on the tuning screen, and no account is ever required. The optional Pro unlock in the app covers extras like the metronome, and it's a single one-off payment, never a subscription.
The chromatic mode will tell you whether a piano note has drifted, which is useful for deciding when to call a tuner. Actually tuning a piano needs specialist tools and stretched-octave technique, so we'd point you to a professional piano tuner for that.

EarTuned is built so there is almost nothing to write a privacy policy about. The web tuner and the app listen to your instrument using your device's microphone solely to detect pitch, entirely on your device. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. No account exists, so we hold no personal data about you. We do not use advertising or tracking technologies.
On this website, we don't set analytics cookies. If you email support, we see your email address and use it only to reply. In the iPhone app, purchases are processed by Apple; if you buy the Pro unlock, our payment infrastructure provider (RevenueCat) processes an anonymous purchase record to restore your unlock across devices, with no name, email or contact details attached. Apple's own privacy terms govern the payment itself.
Your settings and custom tunings are stored only on your own device. Delete the app and they're gone.
